My name is Alyssa Loveday and I completed my HSC in 2017. For my HSC the subjects I completed include English Advanced, Mathematics, Chemistry, Ancient History and Community and Family Studies. I was School Captain at my high school and was also a member of the student representative council. I gained early entry into a Bachelor of Primary Education, which I am currently completing at the University of Wollongong. I am very passionate about education and in 2019 I will commence my first professional development at a local Primary School. The subjects I completed in my HSC in combination with the subjects I am studying and the skills I am learning as a student completing a primary teaching degree have equipped me to help students at the primary education level. A particular subject area of interest of mine is mathematics, and I recently completed an elective subject in mathematics for primary educators. I am a kind and caring individual who believes it is very important for students to have a fun, happy and positive learning environment where they feel comfortable and supported in their learning. Each individual learns in their own way and I look forward to working with students to discover the ways of learning that work best for them!

My name is Aditi and I am currently studying biomedical science at the University of Queensland. I’m available to tutor Biology (grade 1-12), Chemistry (grade 1-10) and Mathematics (grade 1-10) and really looking to help students perform the best they can at school. The main focus of each tutoring session is based on concepts throughout the term in order for exam and assignment preparation. I’m also available to help with Extended Experimental Investigation’s and Extended Response Task’s, proof reading and marking drafts for students, ready to provide extra material from my textbook, if required. My university degree is mainly focused around biology, and chemistry, hence this is my area of expertise. Moreover, biology is a subject I specialise in, having always been a subject I’ve achieved high in and enjoyed throughout high school. Hence, I tutor biology from primary school to grade 12. My name is Leon, I am 20 years old and currently completing my first year of a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney. Hello! My name is Jeremy and I recently completed my HSC at Green Point Christian College in 2016. As a recent graduate, I have a firm understanding of the 7-10, Prelim, and HSC syllabuses. Starting in 2017, I will be doing an ‘Advanced Science (Honours)’ degree at UNSW. I have a real passion for Maths and Science, as well as skills in Business Studies, and strongly believe in the value of education, for both myself and others in these areas. As a former ‘Cadet Sergeant’ in the Australian Air Force Cadets, I was able to grow in my understanding of the value and importance of education and youth development, with over a year and a half of teaching experience, and four full weeks of leadership and ‘Instructional Technique’ training. As a result, I was able to develop my own teaching abilities, by teaching Cadets from the ages of 13- 19, in both large, and small classes. I hope to see you soon!

Hi, I am Michael. After I completing the High School Certificate in 2017 at Narara Valley High School, having distinctions in Advanced Mathematics and Extension 1 Mathematics as well as a Merit in Physics, I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Science Majoring in Mathematics at Macquarie University. I have a passion for people leading me to want to help people achieve their goals which I believe tutoring can achieve this. During my high school life I was a school leader from year 10 to year 12, playing for the school cricket team as well as for the soccer team. Hi there. My name is Christian, and I am ready and eager to tutor your child. As a child of a Science teacher my specialities include Chemistry, Physic, 2 Unit Maths and Engineering Studies. I am also able to tutor your child from K-Year 10 in Maths and Science if they are within those year groups. Hi! My name is Peter Hill, student at Macquarie University studying Ancient History with Secondary Education. I have a strong passion for all things history and anthropology, but also have a keen interest in science. I am very flexible in figuring out the best way for students to study and learn their material, allowing for a more self-guided learning and work process. I am also something of a traditional instructor however, so I have no problems with being a guiding force when the occasion requires it for my students. I am very proficient in explaining complex subjects by breaking them down into their simpler components, allowing me to transition the learning of any key information that may have been missed in class smoothly into tutoring. Essay writing skills I also place large emphasis on as this is where students show off their ability to think, thus I would consider it an integral part of preparing students for exams and assessments. Adversity, Challenge and Encouragement are core to my ethos around teaching, as students only grow in strength of knowledge and skill by pushing themselves forward and potentially outside their comfort zone. It is important to encourage students along the way of course, but in a way that excites them to dig deep and be confident in themselves in both schooling and other integral parts of their lives. Confidence has always been a key element in my growth and development of my personal passions like snorkelling and singing, but more importantly, it has helped me grow as a person and throw myself into my own studies. I’ve been an educator (of all ethnicities, walks of life and ages, from primary school students to university undergraduates and postgraduate teacher trainees), for over two decades. Having lived in a half dozen countries and travelled to a few more places, what strikes me about education is the great potential, freedom and opportunity it can release in the individual. The learning process is as important as any ultimate goals, as it encourages self-reflection and active engagement in the world we inhabit. Hello, my name is Olivia Stolz and I have just completed my HSC in 2018, achieving an ATAR of 95.35 and the Alan Martin Memorial Award for Academic Excellence (DUX). My hard work enabled me to pursue my dream course at The University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Media and Communications), enrolled in the Dalyell Scholars stream. I studied Advanced English, General Mathematics, Studies of Religion II, Textiles and Design as well as Business Studies. I understand that while many children find schoolwork frustrating and difficult, the feeling that comes with success is worth all of the effort. I can help students whether they are struggling with their homework, don't understand the methods of their teacher, or even help with the NAPLAN and selective high school placement exams. My name is Natasha and I am currently studying a bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland. After graduating school in 2017, I was able to receive an early offer into my degree due to the subjects I had taken as well as the grades that I had obtained, and also the many opportunities I was given in school such as participating in High Resolves, the UQ Science and Engineering Challenge, and the UQ Sparq-ed Program. However, I was not only involved with academics in school; I played for many sporting teams and music groups so I understand the busyness of school life and how to manage time wisely in order to achieve greatly in every aspect. Whilst at school I had to the opportunity to tutor students in the grade below me, and I was also given the opportunity to be a carer for special needs children at Sony Camp – both of which have taught me how to communicate efficiently and how to be an effective tutor that gives results. Alicia completed her ACT Year 12 Certificate in 2014 achieving amazing results and this year will be beginning a Bachelor of Medical Science and Dr. of Medicine (Prev. Bachelor of Medicine) at the University of Newcastle. I have just graduated from Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School in 2017 and am about to commence my first year of University at Griffith, studying a bachelor of Biomedical Science hoping to transfer into medicine someday. I completed the HSC with an ATAR of 92.90 studying Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, PDHPE and English (Advanced), receiving 90+ HSC marks in both Biology and English rewarding me Proxime Accessit of the School. The results I was awarded in my final year of schooling I was very proud of and delighted to receive after all the effort I knew I put in, yet I owed my beloved teachers so much for all the hard work and application they put into seeing me and those around me succeed. Hi, my name is Grace Roberts. I am 18 years old and am a first year uni student at University of Newcastle. I’m currently studying the Bachelor of Biomedical Science with the hope of pursuing a career in the medical field. I moved up from Sydney at the start of the year and have grown to call Newcastle my home. I finished my HSC in 2017 at the academically selective Hornsby Girls High School I received an ATAR of 93.6 and a Band 6 in PDHPE, an E4 in History Extension, and high Band 5s in my other 4 subjects. I was very involved in the school, on the Student Representative Council for several years, a Sports Captain and a Prefect. In my spare time away from uni I love to play sport. I just started AFL this year which I love. I also love photography, and days with just my camera and I are great stress relievers. The aspect of Sydney I miss most is my pet rabbit who would be my study buddy through year 11 and 12, sitting by my desk everyday whilst I crammed in those formulas and quotes. I moved to the Gold Coast at the beginning of 2018 from a small country town on the Mid North Coast of NSW. I graduated from Taree High School in 2017, where I received an ATAR of 97.40 and featured on the High Achievers List for Biology, Chemistry and PDHPE. Alongside studying, I am also a very keen Surf Lifesaving Competitor racing at a National level and patrolling the beaches of a weekend. Through these experiences, I have learnt how to manage time effectively, while also ensuring that I give the best effort possible. My name is Vidhiya and I'm currently in my first year studying medicine at Bond University. I moved to the Gold Coast this year and am really enjoying studying and exploring the place. Whilst studying here, I also want to utilise my skills and knowledge from my schooling years by providing tutoring for students who are going through perhaps similar experiences as to what I went through. I really enjoy helping people to improve and achieve the best they can whether it is through some guidance on how to study, organisation, or going through content and questions for clarification or to get ahead. My name is Rennie and I live in Byron Bay. I am 21 years old and am in my second year of university, studying a Bachelor of Psychological Science part-time. I’d love to tutor English to primary and early high school students. Throughout my schooling, I always had a passion for English and in my senior high school years, I achieved high results in Advanced and Extension English. I am currently a PhD Candidate at The University of Newcastle pursing a PhD in Behavioural Science in Relation to Medicine. My Bachelor’s degree was in Psychology and my Master’s degree was in Clinical Psychology. For my PhD thesis, I am examining multiple health risk behaviours among vocational education students. I am from Ghana in the West of Africa. Before commencing my PhD, I worked as a part time graduate teaching and research assistant at the department of Psychology in the University of Ghana and part time lecturer in a private university in Accra teaching undergraduate courses in psychology. I have a pleasant personality, get along very well with others and interact easily with others. During my free time, I like to listen to music or the radio, read and visit friends. I have just completed my first degree at Macquarie University- Bachelor of Arts with a major in Modern History and a minor in Education and Criminology. Hey, my name is Gurpreet Singh, I am located in Coffs Harbour and completed my HSC in 2016. I really enjoyed High School and I was the school captain at Orara High School in the same year. From this experience, I learned to balance my personal life with my educational studies and I am confident that my study methods which I have developed will provide results. Hi! My name is Eliza, and I’m from the Coffs Coast, currently studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education at the University of Newcastle. My main passion and pursuit is humanities; my major is ancient history and my minor is modern history. I tend to read anything I can get my hands on, love to obtain new knowledge of all sorts (even the trivial things) and have great enthusiasm for academic research. I know that my final years of secondary study would not have been nearly as successful without the support and the push provided by my teachers, so I hope to impart a little bit of their wisdom to those who need my help, and maybe even to nurture a love of the humanities in my students; or at the very least give them the confidence to be able to face the HSC with a steady hand. Hi, my name is Caitlyn Jurd and I am 18 years old. I completed my HSC last year at Cambridge Park High, where i was also elected into the school leadership team as the role of prefect. Throughout my high school experience, I participated in programs to assist other students in their studies, in a variety of year groups, whether it was one-on-one or group meetings. After completing my HSC, i was shocked to receive an early offer into my desired course and campus followed by multiple other offers. I am now in my first year of university, studying my bachelor of arts, pathway to teaching (primary) at Western Sydney university. My name is Dean Tuckwell and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Applied Science (Parks, Recreation and Heritage). With this I hope to one day work with endangered animal and plant species throughout Australian National Parks, and potentially even some overseas parks! I love to play sports, play music and most of all take photos. I have a photography website and hope one day to incorporate my photography with my work in the endangered wildlife field. Throughout high school I enjoyed science most of all, and this is reflected in my tertiary studies. Upon leaving high school I enrolled into a Bachelor of Medical Science (Anatomy and Physiology) at UWS, where I completed a year before deciding it wasn’t for me. Having always had a passion for computers, I transferred to a Bachelor of Computer Science with CSU, but realising this would mean I would be cooped up in a office for the majority of my life I found my current course, the Bachelor of Applied Science (Parks, Recreation and Heritage), and after six months have not looked back!

Hi, my name is Bianca and I am a scientist and science is my passion. I didn't always love science, I struggled early in school with it and found it a hard and frustrating subject. In year 11 I had the most amazing science teacher, he taught me how to study science and how to understand it. Thanks to him, I fell completely in love with everything science related and ended up topping my class in Biology. I went on to do a Bachelor's of Science (Advanced) at the University of Sydney where I studied biology, chemistry and biochemistry. I loved every moment of my studies and I graduated with a high distinction average. Since then I have been working as a scientist studying cancer biology. Recently I decided to undertake to a masters in epidemiology which I am currently studying. It's my goal to complete these studies and then undertake a PhD in a similar field. My name is Felicity. I am currently a part time Forensic Anthropology PHD student at the ANU. My education might be described as wide-ranging. I started my university journey with a Bachelor of Arts in Television Production, going on to work for six years in the industry as a DA and Production Co-ordinator. Hi, my name is Amy Patterson. I’m originally from Lithgow, but in my senior years I moved to the Central Coast and attended Lake Munmorah High where I excelled in Ancient History (1st in class) and Advanced English (4th). From here, I applied for a Primary Teaching degree (Honours) at the University of Newcastle. I am currently in year 4, semester 2. My biggest passion next to teaching is my animals. I have a dog, (Dave), cat, (Casper), my house Rabbit who is also toilet trained (Anna) and my 5 fish tanks (4 tropical, 1 saltwater). I love organising, and I am always organised way before any assignments or appointments are due. I was previously working at KFC Lake Haven for 5 years until 2018 when I quit. This job allowed me to get a perspective into working, and what was needed to be done to keep customers happy and keep the store clean and hygienic- whilst making some great friends. I am a student at Monash University studying a double degree in Law and Science online due to Covid. Growing up in a regional town in Victoria in a loving and supportive home with two younger siblings, I completed my VCE studying, English Language, Mathematical Methods, Psychology, Biology, Physical Education and Business Management with a high ATAR. Currently residing in the Byron Bay area, I can tutor in all subjects at a primary and lower secondary level. I understand that every student is unique and will require their own personalised tutoring and support. When I was at school I found this the most challenging part, that some classes I easily understood because of the way it was taught, and others I picked up a lot slower. I will work with each student to test which style of teaching works best for them, achieving a great balance of learning and enjoyment.

I always think to be the best tutor, you need to be the best mentor. Being a good mentor means to be a role model, someone who you can relate to, and someone you put trust into to show you the best way through something that is troubling you. Being a good mentor is important when tutoring because it allows you and the student to work collaboratively rather than just downstream learning. Working together, be it games, worksheets, and assessments makes the student feel like you are on the same team. When someone feels you are on the same team as them, they come to you for support and absorb the learning process so much more. When someone is in a negative work relationship, not much sticks, there isn’t good communication, and you don’t avoid conflict. It is the very same with students and tutors which emphasises why I think it is so important to be an interpersonal mentor for students. As a personal tutoring style I help my students pick their goals and I assist them on getting there.

My name is Sacha Paterson and I am a twenty year old literature and creative writing student at University of Canberra. Hello everyone! My name is Falak and I am in my second year of university in Melbourne. Hi, my name is Mitch and I have a massive passion for sport and healthy living. I was born in Gosford but moved to Forster when I was 4 years old and have lived here for most of my life. While growing up in Forster, I attended Forster Public School and then both campus in high school. I finished school in 2014 and have since been studying in Armidale at the University of New England, where I have been able to learn content that I am passionate about. During my time at school I was always interested in all learning areas, although mathematics has been my strong point and I still appreciate it to this day. My name is Van Ceu Lian Fambawl (often refer to as Van) – 22 years old male, originally from Burma. In June 2013, I arrived in Coffs Harbour with my family as a refugee. I grew up in Parramatta and moved to Fairfield East in 2019. I completed the HSC back in 2015, and then completed a Double Major and Double Minor in Philosophy in 2019, acquiring a High Distinction average for the last two years.
